Wine Grape Symposium

Growers, winery representatives, commercial consultants and researchers attended the Riverlink Wine Grape Symposium in June. Researchers presented project information and outcomes including land and water use efficiency, optimising vineyard production with low input, breeding and development, quality production and nutrition. Dr Yasmin Chalmers

Congratulations to Yasmin Chalmers, Vic DPI, who recently completed her PhD.

Not long after handing in her PhD thesis, Yasmin gave birth to a beautiful girl, Eva - two major milestones in one year!

Yasmin's PhD topic was 'Future Farming Systems - Understanding the physiological differences between the response of wine grapes to water deficit and effects on the production of secondary metabolites in the berries and wine'. Her supervisors were Professor Peter Dry, University of Adelaide; Dr Brian Loveys, CSIRO Plant Industry, Dr Mark Downey and Dr Mark Krstic, Vic DPI.

With her PhD accepted, Yasmin recently graduated and will return from maternity leave in 2008.
